Oct. 29 – items will be delivered to school (pick-up between 3:00-5:15)

A note with the amount owed for 5th grade camp will be coming home on Monday, October 13. Additional money owed for your child to go to camp will be due by December 15.

We have begun the second unit about Addition and Subtraction with Decimals. Please have your child practice their multiplication facts as well as watch the blog for homework assignments.

Learning about African regions, customs, and kingdoms are our next focus of study. From there we will move into early exploration and how this eventually lead to the triangular trade between three continents.

We will be continuing to learn about the planets and other objects in the night sky.

Study the vocabulary words for Unit 1 on the blog. We will be having a quiz on these words next week.
- In reading, we are focusing on building theories about characters and gathering evidence to support those theories.
- In writing, we will be working through the process of writing a persuasive essay. We will be analyzing a character and supporting our opinions with details and examples from a text.
- Our expectation is that students read 100 minutes per week. That averages out to be 20 minutes for each school night, but we know schedules are busy. Students may read 30 minutes one night and 10 minutes another. Please be checking to make sure your student is bringing their folder and book home each day.
