  • Monday is picture day.  Our class will have our pictures taken in the afternoon after lunch.
  • The class electronic agenda can still be found on our classroom blog. I have moved its location to the top of the blog under a tab labeled AGENDA. Students will still fill out their paper version daily at school that they may keep at home on Fridays. Each Monday we will fill out a new agenda reflecting the current week.
  • There will be a quiz on social studies vocabulary on Thursday.  The students have flash cards they can bring home to study, or they can find a link to electronic flashcards on the blog under the social studies link: Unit #1 Our Government.
  • Georgetown’s Walk-A-Thon will be on Thursday, September 24.  We will be dressing in our favorite BLUE/GOLD EAGLES wear or as an American Ninja Warrior. Donations may be brought in any day this week.

Week Two!

Wow! We are off to a fantastic start! Last week we spent time developing routines that will help us grow as learners and took some time to get to know one another. Today I  would like to take the time to explain some of the things you will see, and can expect on a regular basis.

Agenda: Each day we fill out a weekly agenda. On our agenda we briefly list what we have done that day. These are for you to be aware of what we are doing in class and alert you to your child’s homework. Homework assignments are highlighted. I have also connected a copy of our agenda on this classroom blog as a cross-reference for you. It will always be located at the top of the blog for you to check.  On Friday’s you may keep the weekly agenda, and the students will get a new one on Monday that reflects the upcoming week.

Math Homework: You can expect that your child may have math homework Monday-Thursday. It will either be all or part of the Remembering side of a lesson, or computer work to be done at home.  Often some students complete this at school, while others do not.  Please check with your child to see if their work is completed.

Reading Logs: Reading logs go home each day in your child’s homework folder.  The expectation is to read a minimum of 20 minutes five times a week for a total 100 minutes.  Of course I would love if your child would read more, but this is our expectation. 🙂  I also ask that you initial your child’s homework reading.  You may do this daily, or on the weekend before the the logs return to school on Mondays.  Whichever works best for your family.

Other Homework: Watch the daily agenda.  Typically the only homework I give is math and reading.  However, occasionally other subjects might come home.  You might see study guides, writing work to catch up on, or a simple project.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me!
