Classroom Happenings!

Brrrrrr! Winter has officially arrived. Please make sure your child is dressed for the frigid temperatures. We do go outside unless the temperature is below zero. Below are reminders about homework and what we’ve been learning in the classroom. Keep warm and enjoy this sunshine!
Homework:
  • Reading-Continue to read 100 minutes each week. Now, only the time on the Book It calendar needs to be filled out and turned in at the end of the month.
  • Math: Five minutes of MobyMax is still expected to maintain fact fluency or to master fact fluency.
  • Study Island: I will assign a Study Island assignment each week. Your child will have Monday-Thursday to finish the 10 question assignment. Typically the assignments will be math, but occasionally they may revolve around ELA. Your child may access Study Island through their CLEVER account in the same way they get to MobyMax. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.  The first assignment, equations with multiplication and division,  is posted and due Friday morning.

Reading: We will begin our Book Clubs in a Series this week. Our focus is for readers see the story in their mind as they read keeping track of characters, problems or issues, events, and resolutions/solutions.

Writing: Your kids have been working hard creating a slide-show to publish their informational writing. They will be using these slideshows to present to the class their expertise on their topic. Our next piece of writing will be Realistic Fiction.

Math: We finished up our unit on measurement last week Wednesday & Thursday. Watch for those tests to come home later in the week. We will start our unit on Multidigit Addition and Subtraction.

Social Studies: A study guide went home last Friday for Wednesday, 1-23 test date. We will be beginning our third unit, Michigan History, this week. 🙂
