FRIDAY FUN!  March 6

detroit buttonDon’t forget we have a school-wide pajama day this Friday.  I’ll be sporting my Detroit Tiger P.J.s!!  The Tigers are off to a great start in preseason play.  Let’s hope it continues into the regular season.  GO TIGERS!

The class had been working extremely hard and have earned another reward!!  This time we will be playing board games on Friday afternoon.  Please, if you can, send in any board game that kids can play in pairs or small groups.  We particularly like games that involve strategies and language/spelling skills, but any age appropriate game is fine.  NO ELECTRONICS this time. 🙂

MichiganAlso, remember to support our MICHIGAN coin war.  The rules are easy.  The coins will be counted by dollar amount (not weight).  If Team U of M wins, then Team MSU will have to come dressed in Blue and Maize for the day (what a wonderful day that will be:) and vice versa. The students will also get to wear the winning color of their team on the designated day.

Donations will go toward All For Books sponsored by Scholastic.

Update!

pajamaMarch has arrived.  We are one more step closer to spring!  Next weekend, we turn the clocks forward one hour.  To celebrate the Spring Forward into daylight savings time, we will hold an ALL SCHOOL PJ Day on Friday, March 6.  Remember:   We do not have school on Monday, March 9.

Parent/Teacher conferences are March 9, 10, 11.  If you do not recall your conference time, please contact me so I can let you know of your scheduled time.

TenMarks Homework: I have assigned 6 tracks of homework for the entire week.  Half of the assignments involve concepts that were very difficult for the kids in their recent work with multiplication and division of decimal numbers involving powers of 10, and the other half involve the practice of skills from much earlier in the school year.

Please encourage your child to think through these questions involving exponents and concepts involving place value.  Have them take advantage of the video clips and text hints.  This is a perfect opportunity for additional support in the comfort of their home.  The assignment is due Friday.  Pace out the time spent on these throughout the week.  My goal is to keep concepts fresh in their minds, not overwhelm them.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
