KEEP ON LEARNING WITH READING & MOBYMAX

Dear Parents,

Studies have shown that students can lose up to 50% of learning during the summer vacation.   Georgetown is challenging you and your child to “KEEP ON LEARNING” this summer to prevent summer slide.  There are two ways to record your learning time:

Our goals for students over the summer are below. Students who reach or exceed goals will be entered into a drawing for an Amazon Gift Card (1 per grade). This is for their grade next year.

Homework

Reading:
Continue to read 100 minutes each week. Now, only the time on the Book It calendar needs to filled out and turned in at the end of the month.

Social Studies: Tonight a homework assignment came home. The kids need to list products and where those products were made on a worksheet that went home today. If your sheet is missing your child may do this with 6 different products on a separate piece of paper. Please have them bring it back tomorrow. 🙂

Math: Five minutes of MobyMax is still expected to maintain fact fluency or to master fact fluency.

Also, tonight a study review for math went home with the kids. The math test on Unit 3 is tomorrow. Please review any concepts with your kids that they feel they still need help with. Overall, they all seem confident on the standards.

Beginning next Monday, a Study Island math assignment will be given for math. The kids will have Monday-Thursday to complete the assignment. I do not grade homework so please help your kids with any questions they may have on these math problems. Study Island shows a different format than we have in our Math Expressions program. This is good for our kids to see math presented in many ways. After homework is given on a standard I will assign that standard here at school to collect data on mastery. If you have any questions once this begins, please feel free to email me.

Moby Max- CLEVER

I reminded the class today that we are beginning to do MobyMax homework Monday through Thursday for 5 minutes each night. If for some reason your child cannot do this at home please send me a note or quick email to excuse them from this.

You must log into CLEVER to access the Moby Max program. You can find a CLEVER button on the right side of this classroom blog. Just click on that and your child will be able to log in. Once logged in once your child shouldn’t have to log in on that device again. They only need to click the button to access all the apps located in our CLEVER program.

Today I sent home QR codes that will automatically log your child into CLEVER. For them to work you need to have your camera activated on your computer.  If for some reason that doesn’t work I also sent home your child’s username and password.

To log into CLEVER you need to enter your child’s username with this attached: @hpsstudents.net

For example, my username would be entered like this: Kburdis@hpsstudents.net

Then they use their password when prompted.

CLEVER can also be downloaded as an app on cell phones and tablets. The login process is the same.

Just five minutes a night on MobyMax fact fluency helps leaps and bounds in improving and maintaining fact fluency.
