Writing– True Stories

Reading– Launching Strong Reading Habits.

  • Homework reading logs are due on Mondays. Reading 100 minutes each week is our 3rd-grade goal.

Word Study– We have been assessing frequency words and have also done an assessment for spelling features. Last week Friday we placed in the back of your child’s take-home folder a list of words that 3rd graders are expected to spell correctly in everyday use when entering 3rd grade. Any highlighted words are words that your child should be working on at home to master. Here at school, each student has a personal dictionary along with the list of words posted for them to have for easy access. These tools will be available for them to spell everyday frequency words correctly as they continue to work for mastery.

Math– Multiplication and Division

  • We have introduced 5’s & 2’s so far in this unit and this week we will be working with 10’s, 9’s, and 3’s.
  • Students should be practicing with their flashcards for 5 minutes each night for mastery of the above facts.
  • We have been working fact fluency on MobyMax here at school for 5 minutes each day. Each student must master addition and subtraction fluency before I activate the multiplication and division fluency application. Have your child start this routine at home for an additional 5 minutes.
