What’s Coming Up-Weeks of November 13-21

Miscellaneous-

  • Our classrooms are chilly because our school heating system is in need of booster units to move the heat through the building. These are on order … arrival date TBD. All staff will be dressing warmly next week (layers). Please send in a sweater/sweatshirt for your child to keep warm in the classroom and consider dressing them in layers too!
  • Beginning this week have your child practice Moby Max Fact Fluency for 5 minutes Monday-Thursday!
  • Watch for a suggested book list to come home on Monday, November 13. This book list will help support you in finding a good series at your child’s reading level.
  • Tuesday, November 14 is  Vision Screening for third graders. If your child wears eyeglasses please have them bring them to school on Tuesday to wear for screening.
  • November 22-26 is Thanksgiving Holiday Break
  • December 1 is Early Release Friday dismissal @12:15

Writing- Wrapping up our Persuasive Essays

Reading- We are finishing our read aloud, Because of Winn Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo.  We also are practicing responding to short text by using test-taking strategies and written responses. The kids are doing a great job turning in their reading logs each Monday! 🙂

Spelling– Week #12; This week’s study feature is short E and Long E using the patterns EE and EA.

Math– Unit #3- Measurement, Time and Graphs

Social Studies- The Economy of Michigan

Happy Thanksgiving

Indians and PilgrimsI hope everyone has a Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving.  I look forward to hearing from your children about all the wonderful memories they will create from this year’s Thanksgiving holiday.    

Updates for the week of December 1.

  • Next week brings a lot of excitement with our annual Holiday Program.  This year our program will be Tuesday, December 2. Here is a link with detailed information. Georgetown Elementary Holiday Program. 
  • When you drop your child off, please take your child’s coat.  Children will be released to you from the stage. 
  • Our class is scheduled to shop on Wednesday, December 3 for the Holiday Gift shop.  Information and envelopes went home on Tuesday.  
  • Due to the unexpected snow days we delayed our research for our informational writing. We will begin next week and will be done with the library books by the end of the week.  
  • Spelling Test for week 11 will be Wednesday, Dec. 3
