Goodies Factory Fundraiser

In keeping with a wonderful Hudsonville tradition, our fifth-grade students will have the opportunity to go on an overnight camping trip this spring. School camping is an experience of cooperative living that gives our children the opportunity to learn in an atmosphere unlike that of the classroom. Georgetown fifth graders will enjoy one night and two full days of activities at Camp Henry in Newaygo, Michigan. We will leave Georgetown on the morning of Thursday, May 18 and will return on the evening of Friday, May 19. We are also planning a celebration for all fifth-grade students near the end of the year.

The cost to participate in camp and other fifth grade activities will be $100 per student. We have one fundraising opportunity for students to raise money to offset some of the costs of these activities. Students have the opportunity to sell cookie dough, sandwiches, and a variety of other treats from The Goodies Factory to friends and family members. Forty percent of the sales for each student will be applied to his or her camp/activity costs.

Fifth Grade Fundraiser Dates to Remember:

  • Monday, Oct. 24 – Orders and payment must be turned in to your child’s teacher.
    • Please send one check payable to Georgetown Elementary.
    • Wednesday, Nov. 16 – Product will be delivered to Georgetown.
    • Due to the perishable nature of some of the products, products MUST be picked up at school between 3:00 and 5:00 PM on this day.

Social Studies: We have been learning about why the colonists had decided to declare independence. Please have students study their Unit 5 Social Studies vocabulary words because they have a quiz later this week. They can either study online or take their paper cards back and forth to school.  We will also be having a test later this week as well.
Science: We have just wrapped up our unit on Traits and Adaptations and are moving into our last unit: Force and Motion. The last 3 weeks will all be inquiry and experiment related in dealing with manipulatives.
ELA: Researching events leading up to the Revolutionary war has been our main area of study and will continue to be next week.  We are practicing taking notes from different types of primary and secondary media sources and then summarizing what we have learned.
